3 Reasons I Love Being a Photographer

An expression of appreciation, outlining your favorite parts of your job and listing what makes your customers so amazing.

It’s probably no surprise that I love my job—like get-in-the-zone-and-forget-to-eat, kind of love it—but, do you know why? It’s the gorgeous images I get to create for people. It’s the freedom to be creative and show the world through my eyes. Mostly though, it’s the amazing people I’ve met and worked with through photography.

Since it’s a new year (and decade), let’s do this like a ball drop! Ready? Here we go.

3…I get to create beautiful photos that allow my clients to cherish some of their favorite times. From new babies to beach visits, traveling Europe to pictures on the family farm, I get to create images that tell my clients’ stories. Using the location, natural light and their (amazing) personalities to weave an image that’s beautiful and personal is so much fun and makes my heart skip a beat.

2…It’s my creative outlet. I’ve had a camera in hands since I was 8 years old. I’ve always loved documenting the world around me, especially the little things that are easily overlooked or underappreciated. I love exploring new placing and finding the tucked-away spots that usually get overlooked for pictures. My favorite way to decompress after a hard season is to take a solo trip with my camera and just shoot for myself. I’ve done this from the Olympic National Forest to German palaces and it still fills my soul.

1…I’ve met some of the most amazing people through photography. Not like famous big-name people, but wonderful, every day people. Many have becomes friends and love see how their lives bloom over the years. Above all, it’s their hearts that make my customers so amazing; from having babies and raising kids to starting businesses and running nonprofits, the people I’ve photographed over the years have done some amazing things.
